Laynie is an avid fiction consumer. Growing up in a big family, she was always a headstrong troublemaking tomboy with a book or paintbrush in her hand. With an appetite for the dark and monstrous hidden in the real world, she lives and breathes Guillermo Del Toro, Junji Ito, and all cryptozoological mythos. She earned her Bachelor of Art in Theatrical Fabrication from The University of Texas at Austin. Now through her art, Laynie depicts the darkness of humans and the kindness of monsters. She currently lives in northern Texas, close to family and friends, where she works to bring her surreal imagination to life every day.​
